He Who Endures to the End, part 1 (Luke 21:5-19)

The Olivet Discourse comes at the end of a section of Luke’s gospel that began with Jesus entering Jerusalem and pronouncing judgment on the temple (Luke 19:41-44). In the final week of his earthly ministry, before his crucifixion,  he had cleansed the temple, challenged the authority of the temple leadership, pronounced woes against the scribes and their morally bankrupt religious system, and now once again prophesies the destruction of the temple (Luke 21:6). But when would these things take place? And what does this have to do with our lives today? In this sermon, Pastor Matt teaches that, despite temptation to fall away and live in fear, believers are called to endure to the end as we trust in the saving purposes of our sovereign God.
