Prepared for the Great Commission (Luke 24:36-53)

After two years through the gospel of Luke we come to the end of Jesus’ earthly ministry. But this is far from the end of his story. The exaltation of the risen Lord Jesus to the right hand of the Father, and the sending of the promised Holy Spirit, was the catalyst that sparked the proclamation of the gospel to the ends of the earth (Luke 24:47-49). Yet before his ascension, he prepared his disciples for the great commission. And as we ourselves come to the end of another year, Jesus’ parting words serve as an encouragement for us. In this sermon, Mitch Bedzyk reminds the church of the peace we have with God, the necessity of the Spirit and the Word, and our ongoing mission as Christ’s disciples.
